forgivenessWe are lucky. Despite our bad behavior and sin-separation from God, our relationship is healed through Jesus’ sacrifice. We are forgiven without cost to us when we accept Jesus as our savior. Our forgiveness is free (although it came at a great price to Jesus). Free-giveness!

There is another aspect to forgiveness that I’m also very excited about. It is freedom.  When I first apologize, out loud, to God for sins I know I’ve committed and then ask, out loud, for his forgiveness, I have experienced such freedom. Right in that moment. The bad is dragged out into the light and its power is lost. I’m free.

I encourage you to try it. Pick an incident you regret. Perhaps it’s something you said or did. Maybe it’s just part of your thought life. Whatever it is, admit it and ask for forgiveness. Speak to your loving father out loud. I’m sure that a joyful freedom is awaiting you. It’s the freedom of forgiveness. Free-giveness!
