Safe in hand

I am constantly amazed and reassured by the direct connection between the Old (before Jesus) and New (during and after Jesus) Testaments in the Bible. Here’s a great example of one of God’s promises from hundreds of years earlier being confirmed and echoed by the words of His Son.

First the original promise (Isaiah 41:10):

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

Next, Jesus’ confirmation (John 10:25-30).

Jesus answered, “I did tell you, but you do not believe. The works I do in my Father’s name testify about me, but you do not believe because you are not my sheep. My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one will snatch them out of my hand. My Father, who has given them to me, is greater than all; no one can snatch them out of my Father’s hand. I and the Father are one.”
