Your transfiguration

I’ve previously written about Jesus’ transfiguration. The scripture reference is Luke 9:28-36.

Verse 29 says: As he was praying, the appearance of his face changed, and his clothes became as bright as a flash of lightning.

I recognize this as an important moment of the Father’s (Yahweh) recognition of the Son’s (Jesus) ultimate significance. However, I’ve wondered if there was an even bigger picture to understand. I think that Paul helps us see this panoramic view in his second letter to the church in Corinth.

Whenever, though, they turn to face God as Moses did, God removes the veil and there they are—face-to-face! They suddenly recognize that God is a living, personal presence, not a piece of chiseled stone. And when God is personally present, a living Spirit, that old, constricting legislation is recognized as obsolete. We’re free of it! All of us! Nothing between us and God, our faces shining with the brightness of his face. And so we are transfigured much like the Messiah, our lives gradually becoming brighter and more beautiful as God enters our lives and we become like him. 2 Corinthians 3:17 MSG

Jesus puts us face-to-face with the Father, without shame, without fear, without regret. Embrace your transfiguration and live the life of growing joy that God intends for you!
