Turn down for what?

There is a popular song by DJ Snake (featuring Lil Jon) titled “Turn down for what”. The lyrics are (yes, this is the extent of them):

Fire up loud
Another round of shots

Turn down for what.

The message is that you “fire up” by getting drunk or high and being reckless. Because this is so rewarding, there is no obvious reason to “turn down” or sober up. Now you know.

Let me challenge you with a slightly different title for 2015: Hold back for what. The question I’m posing to you is this… what are you holding onto that won’t let you truly go all in with God? Why are you holding back? Your safety is not in wealth, or achievement, or success, or relationships, or lifestyle, or _________ (fill in the blank with your own personal counterfeit god).

God spoke these words to Joshua: “Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be frightened, and do not be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.” (Joshua 1:9)

God is unchanging, steadfast, and faithful. He gives you the same command as Joshua. Will 2015 be the year where you sell out completely for God? Why would you choose any other path? Be courageous. Don’t hold back. Let these replacement lyrics be your battle cry.

Stand up proud
Mine is the God that rocks

Hold back for what
