The game is won

As a high school football coach, I watch from the sideline on Friday nights as my players attempt to execute the game plan we practiced all week. Sometimes they make mental mistakes. Sometimes they make physical errors or the opposing player is simply more gifted athletically. Sometimes my game plan is flawed and the other coaching staff exploits it. Because the game’s outcome is not known to me, it can be very stressful when the other team scores or when we fail to score. I simply don’t know if we will win or lose during the game. I must wait until there is no time left on the clock to know for sure.

The great news in our Christian walk is that we know the devil has already lost. This knowledge is like playing a football game where I already know that we win. In that scenario, when we lose momentum or give up a score, I am not worried because I already know the final outcome. Each score by the other team just turns into an expectation to see how we will score to match. Imagine living your life in this truth! God has already won and we are on the winning team.
